Shaking The Habitual

Directed by Eoin McKenzie and Gudrun Soley
Performed by Platform Young Company

Shaking The Habitual is a devised performance, borrowing its name from the 2013 album of the same name by Swedish experimental music collective The Knife. The works consists of choreographic images that repeat over and over and over again in time to an aria played from a record player on stage. The images, and performers enacting them, grow frustrated as they begin to break the rules and shift the balance, all the while with a knowing look that hints towards our current neoliberal and oppressive landscape. We ask for your time and we ask you id we can change.

Shaking The Habitual was a co-production between Eoin McKenzie and Gudrun Soley, Platform, and the Platform Young Company. It was presented in November 2018 at the Chrysalis Festival at the Traverse Theatre.
