Participatory Practice/Relational Aesthetics/Social Practice
(necessarily complicated terms for when I work with people, places, and spaces)
I am an experienced facilitator having designed and delivered a wide range of projects within youth arts contexts, in communities, in schools, in partnership with local councils, and with people of all ages and backgrounds. I am currently an associate artist at Platform and lead artist with Lab Station, a group of teenagers who meet once a week to create live art works. I am also the Artist Mentor for Youth Theatre Arts Scotland on their New Territories project were I support the skills development and projects of emerging arts facilitators in Scotland.
Context Specific Projects
I have designed and delivered an intensive 5 day residency in HMP Low Moss and presented work within HMYOI Polmont with Glas(s) Performance, exploring themes of masculinities through various lenses. I have also delivered residential performance-making projects across various schools in Scotland, and am currently working with the Edinburgh International Festival on their MyFestival strand for August 2019.
As a performance maker and participatory artist I am interested in exploring the modes and models of working with other people, places, and spaces. I am currently in the process of developing ‘10 Dances’, a participatory dance work with 10 volunteer performers who offer a dance from their life to the work - investigating dance as a mode of connection and somatic storytelling. I have recently worked as a devising performer with Glas(s) Performance on OldBoy.
